NEW ZEALAND UMPIRE ACCREDITATION PATHWAY
Player/Umpire Theory Certificate
All umpires must hold a Player/Umpire certificate or centre theory pass before umpiring at HPNC. The assessment is currently available online. Click on the Online Learning link above.
Umpires in year 8 are allowed to umpire the 6v6 game of netball played by players in year 6 or below.
Umpires in year 9 and above, or adults, can also umpire the 7-aside game.
Centre Umpire Award (centre practical)
Once umpires have a centre theory pass, the next step on the pathway is the Centre Umpires Award (centre practical). Procedures and information, prerequisites, and screening information for the award are available in the Community Umpiring Manual.
Please note that per the Community Umpiring Manual, umpires will not be advised when they are being screened.
Zone Theory
Once umpires hold their Centre Theory and a Centre Umpire Award, the next step is to take the Zone Theory exam. This exam takes place twice per year. The cost of the exam is payable to Netball New Zealand. Payment details will be sent to the applicants to pay online after registrations have closed.

Zone Award
Once umpires hold their Centre Umpire Award and a current Zone Theory Pass, they can work toward the Zone Award (practical).
Procedures and information, prerequisites, and screening information for the award are available in the Community Umpiring Manual.
Please note that per the Community Umpiring Manual, umpires will not be advised when they are being screened.
Umpires working towards the Zone Award should email their name, club, email, telephone details to umpire@hpnc.org.nz

New Zealand C, then B Awards
Umpires working towards either their NZ C or NZ B award are coached by New Zealand level Umpire Coaches.
Procedures and information, prerequisites, and screening information for the award are available in the Community Umpiring Manual.
In addition to holding New Zealand Theory exam pass, umpires will need to achieve pass fitness testing. Procedures and information for fitness testing are available in the Community Umpiring Manual.
